AN EASY CHOICE..

Hawaiian native Garran Soohoo was bitten by the hot rod bug in high school, and he has been infected ever since. He says that a buddy had a fast ’33 Chevy that really left a mark on his brain. In fact, he ended up in Top Fuel, traveling the country while pit-crewing for the likes of the Kalitta Motorsports and learning engine building techniques from Dick Lahaie. When Don Garlits decided to come out of retirement and lay down a 300 mph pass, Garran was flown in to help. Eventually, non-stop life on the road and living in hotels took its toll, and he began thinking about settling down. In 2000 he opened Nitro Street Rods in Sparks, Nevada and has been steadily growing simply by word of mouth ever since.
A few trips to Billetproof reawakened a desire to own a loud, fast, and dirty hot rod. While at looking at an old pickup stashed in a backyard, he spotted an old hot rodded ‘31 Ford coupe in the owner’s garage. It wasn’t for sale, but he left his number anyways and a year later he got the call.
