The name Clark Bates has come up more than once in this magazine. For those of you who have followed us from the beginning, before the change of name and all that, you will definitely recognize Clark’s work. Clark is part of a bunch of guys known as the So-What Speed Shop, a club that isn’t a shop, but a bunch of talented hot rodders that have great style when it comes to putting a car together. This ’27 Model T is no exception. With the help of partner Howard “Junior” Kelly, this car came together in no time.

Like most of Clark’s cars, this one began as an abandoned project that was destined for the life of a Pro Street show car. More than likely it would have spent most of its life on a trailer, and only get driven at a show in nice weather. Clark had other ideas for the “T”, and, as a matter of fact, its first show was the Detroit Auto-Rama, which Clark had to battle a snow storm to get to…OK…it was on a trailer, but the car wasn’t really finished yet.
